The Right Side Group of Companies is also active in several businesses.   We have these businesses for several reasons.  Most importantly, each business has a link to real estate by either performing work for our Joint Venture projects or, positioning us in such a way as to attract investors while providing a wonderful service.

Renovation and repairs is one major success factor in rental property ownership.  Operating in the Hamilton Market for the past 4 years, we have had great difficulty finding a renovation company who focuses on the needs of the landlord while respecting the living space of the tenant.  As such, we partnered with Mark's Father and opened Garrett Construction Ltd.  A family owned and operated company since 1991.

BUSINESS FOR SALE

When Mark was let go from his job resulting from his employer going bankrupt, Mark enrolled in a program through HRDC called the Self Employment Business Development Program offered at the Toronto Business Development Center.  Mark was interested in starting an organic lawn care company given the pesticide by-law that was a reality in the GTA. 

After 9 months of research and hard work, there were three alternatives 1) quit, 2) start something and invest 250,000 to have product tested through the government or 3) purchase a franchise already focusing on organic lawn care.

In September 2004, one year to the week, Mark and Carol purchased the Toronto East franchise territory of The Environmental Factor.  Today, the company owns two additional territories and is now the largest Organic Only Lawn Care provider in Canada.  With a investment by business partner of only 18,500, the business now has 120 customers and is positioned to explode with the September 1, 2005 implementation date of the Toronto Pesticide By Law.
